Top 33 Hot Sauce Shops in the World

Speaking of Hot Sauce shops, Craft Hot Sauce put together an awesome post on the top 33 hot sauce shops across the globe. We’ve got our sights set on getting into some of these this year, so it was fun to take a look at just how many have popped up over time. Ohio’s even got a few on the list (one is definitely not surprising).

Mikey V Opens Hot Sauce Parlor in Austin, Texas

As of the beginning of 2021, award-winning sauce master Michael Valencia is the latest to open a brick and mortar sauce location. Carrying Mikey V’s sauces along with a host of others, the Georgetown Square in Texas brings a new twist to the idea of a hot sauce shop. Later this year, along with the sauces section, customers will also have the chance to buy tacos!

That’s right, it will be Mikey V’s Tacos On The Square opening in early February. “Some of the tacos customers can look forward to include Al Pastor tacos, Carne Asada tacos, Beef Birria tacos, Vegetarian tacos, California burritos and their famous Corn in a Cup.” Hello Georgetown also notes there will be a “Chin-Gao Taco Challenge” where folks that finish can get their name on the “Wall of Flame.” A big year for Mikey V’s and this is right after he released a hot sauce cookbook!

Would You Eat It? Slice of Sauce Adds Major Hot Sauces

Sometimes science gets too focused on the “could we” and not on the “should we” when it comes to food creations. Slice of Sauce hit it big with A-Rod on Shark Tank and is now pre-selling slices of Secret Aardvark and Frank’s Red Hot. Now, I’ve not looked into this at all, but I suppose you could make those sauces more solid with xantham gum alone, but we’re very curious to see how this goes. Curiosity grabbed hold of us and we pre-ordered some because at this point it seems bonkers.

Heartbeat Hot Sauce Collab Featured Before UFC 257

Heartbeat Hot Sauce teamed up with MMA star Dustin Poirier to release “Poirier’s Louisiana Style Hot Sauce” and people went nuts when he handed a bottle to Conor McGregor at the final meeting before the fight. If you were unaware, Poirier KO’d McGregor in the 2nd round of their bout, proving that once and for all hot sauce is better than whiskey. Who would be your top choice of athlete to collaborate with?

Chick-Fil-A Releasing Spicy Grilled Chicken This Week

Starting tomorrow at Chick-Fil-A, you’ll be able to get a “healthier” spicy chicken sandwich from the clucking king. Chick-Fil-A’s Grilled Spicy Deluxe is “A boneless breast of chicken marinated with a blend of peppers and grilled for a tender and spicy taste, served on a toasted multigrain brioche bun with Colby-Jack cheese, Green Leaf lettuce, and tomato. Served with Cilantro Lime Sauce.” This will make it one of the only spicy grilled chicken sandwich in the fast-food world, a positive for those that are looking to be carb-conscious at the beginning of the year.

Spiciest Dish in Columbus Series: Dosa Corner

Excerpt: As first-time dosa eaters, I’m not afraid to admit we had to look up the proper way to eat one. Note to the reader, it is not intended to be eaten like a burrito. It is best to pinch and pull off chunks of dosa and filling to then dip into the chutney or sambar. Seeking the spiciest dosa on their menu, we opted for the Onion and Hot Chili Masala Dosa.
