Spicy Hot Cocoa

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Spiciness Level: 1/7

Ingredients

  • 3/4 Cup whole milk
  • 1/4 Cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar or brown sugar substitute
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/16 tsp cayenne
  • 1/16 tsp chili powder
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1-2 pieces Dove dark chocolate (or other chocolate)
  • 1/2 Tbsp hot honey (optional)

Directions

  1. Start heating up your milk, cream, and pieces of chocolate in a small sauce pan over a low heat. You don't want to boil the milk, just get it hot, and melt the chocolate pieces.
  2. Mix all your dry ingredients together. You can add more or less cayenne & chili powder depending on your spicy preferences.
  3. Whisk in your dry ingredients into the hot milk until blended. If you're still finding clumps, you can always remove it from the heat and hit your mixture a couple times with an immersion blender.
  4. Enjoy or top with whipped cream and some grated chocolate (use sriracha chocolate if you want to add an extra pinch of spice!)

This is a super easy, super fast recipe to warm you up on a cold day.  A lot of the items are optional so if you don’t have them or want to leave them out,  you can’t really mess it up, outside of making sure you keep it spicy!
