Spicy Shark Profile
Seacoastonline.com did a nice profile on Spicy Shark this past week giving an inside look to owner Gabe DiSaverio. A self-proclaimed “spicy guy,” DiSaverio discusses the beginning of his business and his love of sharks. He even has an interesting proposition for current restaurants serving shark-fin soup, “For every restaurant that removes shark from its menu, he said, he’ll send them a free case of Spicy Shark hot sauce.” Always cool to see what hot sauce creators are passionate about.
Taco Bell Hot Sauce Saves Another Life
Admittedly when I saw this story I was ready to push up my glasses and say “well, actually hot sauce packets…” but then I read on and it’s a purely coincidental save of one man’s life. Still a fun story though. Essentially the man wanted some more heat in his tacos and while procuring more packets, a car drove straight through the establishment and directly into the table he was sitting at. Taco Bell works in mysterious ways.
Recipe of Last Week: Apple Mango Chutney
This past week we whipped up a nice Apple Mango Chutney in the Fartley Farms kitchen. Sweet with some heat, this chutney is ready to make any pork chop or piece of meat a little more a-peel-ing. Get it? We’ve still got some in the fridge and plan to try it out with our next recipe, a Jamaican rub, on some more pork chops.
Smokin’ Ed Currie Discusses Peppers
The Fairfield Sun Times re-posted a video from mid 2017 with Ed Currie talking about peppers and it’s still a gem. Once you get past the celebrity of Currie, he’s an incredible botanist and I love listening to him talk about the hybridization and breeding of peppers. I could definitely listen to a keynote presentation on peppers if he ever hosted at a festival. Who’s your favorite pepper person?
