Taco Bell Joining the Chicken Sandwich Fray

We’ve already talked about the new Spicy Crispy Chicken Sandwich from McDonald’s and have gone over other spicy chicken sandwiches that released throughout the first part of the year, but what if we told you another fast food joint was releasing a spicy chicken “sandwich?” Starting March 11 at select locations in North Carolina and Tennessee, Taco Bell will be serving up a chicken sandwich with chicken “marinated in jalapeño buttermilk and fried with a crunchy tortilla chip coating, served in a puffy bread that’s shaped as a taco. That’s then topped in a creamy chipotle sauce.” CNN Business is also reporting that the sandwich will only be a remarkably low price of $2.49, nearly cutting other chicken sandwich prices in half. Big fans of chicken over here, so the more the merrier we say. How about you?

Columbus Cajun Boil

Lots of spicy restaurant openings coming up in Columbus which is always very exciting! One of the latest from February is the Cajun Boil Bar  just East of 71 on 161. The restaurant will feature Low Country Boils along with other traditional low country fare. Of note within their boils is a spread of heats, from mild all the way up to super hot. How do you feel about seafood and specifically spicy seafood?

Cluck Norris Opening In Budd Dairy Food Hall

The Budd Dairy Food Hall will be opening April 6th right across the street from Seventh Son in the Italian Village area of Columbus. One of the new restaurants opening within the Hall is Cluck Norris, a slinger of chicken fingers. With four flavor options, we’ve got our eye on the HOLY CLUCK! sauce, the hottest of them all. Sandwiches, slaw, and fries also join the menu with the fingers that are “cut fresh daily and battered to order.”

Fartley Farms Now Available At Jungle Jim’s International Market

Exciting stuff! We’ve been working on getting into more stores this year to make it easier to get our sauces. The latest place to find them is Jungle Jim’s International Market in the Cincinnati area. With a ton of hot sauces on their shelves, we’re honored to be one of them. There’s even an Ohio Proud section where you can find more sauce makers in and around the Ohio area. Check out our “where to buy” page if you’re interested in Fartley Farms sauces but went to find it locally.

Ballast Point Brews a Deadly Beer

We all know things have changed a bit during the pandemic and of those was Ballast Point postponing their “Victory at Sea Day” celebration that they typically have before Christmas. This time around the celebration will be extended by a few more days and will feature “eight+ extremely rare variants.” Of those is Reaper-cussive Victory at Sea, a 12% ABV, Carolina Reaper-laden porter. Would you drink it?

How Sweet and Spicy Flavors Work Together

Tasting things is such a strange experience for your brain. So many sensory receptors, so many inputs, and with sweet and spicy foods, lots of notes to process. Business Insider India walks through some sweet and spicy pairings, the history of them, and how to find the right balance. “With sweet and spicy, our body processes spice through receptors in our taste buds and the capsaicin in peppers binds to our taste buds.” The science of spicy foods is crazy sometimes.
