McDonald’s Launching Spicy Chicken Sandwich

It wasn’t enough to saunter into the chicken nugget game with a spicy competitor, McDonald’s is looking for a full-on turf war by adding a spicy chicken sandwich to their offerings starting this week. We previously talked about their Mighty Hot Sauce and spicy chicken nuggets and weren’t overly impressed, though the extract-laced sauce packs a bit of a punch. The “new spicy pepper sauce topping the new southern style fried chicken on a new toasted potato roll,” will be available starting Wednesday February 24. How will this do and will you be trying it out this week?

Not to Be Outdone, Wendy’s Ups Spicy Chicken Game

Sneaking in ahead of the new line of chicken sandwiches from McDonald’s, Wendy’s has produced a somewhat more intriguing sandwich in their new Jalapeño Popper Chicken Sandwich. With a “fiery blend of peppers and spices made even spicier with jalapeño cream cheese, shredded pepper jack cheese, and, of course, jalapeños,” the new spicy chicken sandwich from Wendy’s appears to be dancing out ahead of McDonald’s in a display of bravado and arrogance. WHO WILL WIN THE SPICY CHICKEN WARS?!

Lola’s Fine Hot Sauce Goes Big, Lands Lowe’s Deal

Pretty cool story about Lola’s Fine Hot Sauce, which just won a coveted spot with Lowe’s locations across the country. Taking part in the “Making It…” competition which aims for diverse small business owners to take their innovative product ideas from pitch
to shelves, Lola’s Fine Hot Sauce won a small grant and premium placement in stores and on lowes.com. “Lola’s is a minority-owned hot sauce company made in America that uses each of the world’s hottest peppers for great flavor.”

Kettle Brand Releases New Habanero Lime Flavor

We’ve eaten a lot of Kettle Brand chips in our day, but this latest news of a new flavor is exciting for two reasons. First, new chip flavor on Krinkle Cut is amazing. Second, it’s Habanero Lime. This will be the spiciest chip they’ve produced to date and it sounds delicious. We’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for these bags. What do you think, worth snagging a bag?

Great Feature On Sauce Maker Farmer Nate

We recently found Farmer Nate’s Hot Sauce on Instagram and almost like Google knew what we’d been looking at we then saw an article about Farmer Nate’s Hot Sauce in the City Beat, a Cincinnati publication highlighting news, restaurants, and entertainment in the Cincinnati area. Nate Nunemaker said of his start “Ten months ago, I was just excited my plants were growing. Since then I’ve put a lot of time into it and tested a plethora of different methods. Now I’m on the farm most days, or in the kitchen trying to perfect my sauce.” Read the full feature here! Farmer Nate’s Hot Sauce is made in Covington, Kentucky, basically a stone’s throw away from Ohio. Excited to watch his journey as we get into a knew growing season!
