This hot sauce has a lot going on. Combining many Korean staples and then slapping some extra ginger in there seems like a lot of work for a mixed bag of flavors, but it works and in the time between the recording and posting, the bottle has been completely used up. To top it all off they add a touch of heat at the end with Scorpion Pepper Powder.

Korean Ginger Hot Sauce has an interesting collaboration as well. The sauce features an elixir (some wizard stuff going on here) from ImmuneSchein Ginger Elixirs, who rests on the laurels of 3 primary ingredients for their elixir base: lemon juice, ginger root, and honey.

When I was introduced to Korean BBQ a few years ago, there was this interesting red paste that blew the flavors into another dimension called Gochujang, the second primary ingredient in the Korean Ginger Hot Sauce.

“Paint your skewers, submerge your dumplings, or douse your ramen – you can’t go wrong,” the back of the bottle reads. Similar to our Ginger Reaper Hot Sauce, the Korean Ginger Hot Sauce makes an excellent pair for a host of Asian dishes. On top of that, the power of ginger is real. While combining ginger with hot peppers may not be the best for calming an upset stomach, ginger tends to help out with the digestive process overall.

Ingredients: Distilled Vinegar, Gochujang (water, tapioca syrup, brown rice, red pepper powder, salt, alcohol, garlic, onion), Brown Sugar, Tart Cherry Puree, Steeped Ginger (ginger, honey, lemon juice), Doenjang (water, soybean, salt, alcohol), Onion Puree (onions, citric acid), Red Pepper Mash (peppers, salt), Roasted Garlic, Salt, Scallions, Immunschein Classic Ginger Elixir (organic ginger root, NYS wildflower honey, organic lemon juice), Gochugaru Flakes, Shiitake Mushroom Powder, Scorpion Pepper Powder.

About Horseshoe Brand Hot Sauce

Horseshoe Brand Hot sauce boasts a lineup of 13 sauces including 2 barbecue sauces. The Korean Ginger hot sauce is lower on their heat scale, similar to their Chipotle, and Peach sauces, but they start to get up into the hotter sauces with their Mango Fatalii, and XXXtra Hot Sauce (with habanero and Bhut Jolokia). All of their eight ounce bottles are under eight dollars, a pretty solid deal if you ask us.

Horseshoe Brand Hot Sauce call Milan, New York home and was founded in 2008 when Ken Millet started throwing together sauces and selling them at local events. According to Rural Intelligence, Horseshoe Brand is now in over “500 locations nationwide and stores in Germany and Austria,” a broad range for any sauce manufacturer, let alone a small-batch maker. We know for sure that they have their 8-ounce bottles at Jungle Jim’s here in Ohio.

Have a hot sauce company you’d like us to feature? Let us know! As small batch makers ourselves, we’re not going to rate the sauces, but we do enjoy chatting with makers and learning more about their backgrounds, origin stories, and their plans for 2021.
